Your Love Is My Only Hope

Your love is my only hope
The balcony to my failing life
Wherefrom I see
The horizons of my unveiling dreams
The sunset of my bygone days
And night
While I sense your presence
In absence
I count stars as each day of my life lived
And watch the fading moon of my passion
Grow back again
To its full glory

Identity Crises

Disillusioned
By my nightmares
Frightened
Often out of sleep
In the middle
Of many uneventful nights
I spend rest of my insomniac time
Washing my eyes
Smoothening
Two lost pebbles
Of many sleepless dreams
And doubts

Dreaming Freedom

Your love is a strange feeling

It is like dreaming about freedom

In the courtyard of prison

Earth Is Flat

Earth is flat

Not round

Not spherical

Had it been otherwise
You would have come around
Back to me

World is but one broken mirror

World is but one broken mirror
I am the beggar
Of this world
I scavenge for mirrors
On the streets
Of your love
Scraping together broken reflections
All my life

Hoping

One day

I see you all at once

Scratch My Retina

(In conversation with my torturer)

I am not caffeinated mornings
Or their lazy yawns
Printed across newspaper they read
Benevolent with daily doses
Of delusional truths

I am not the subject
Of their calculated headlines
The impassioned uncivilized person
In their crafty columns
And precisely captured photographs

I am not a footnote
They quote me tirelessly
In defense of their education
Their obsession
Only amuses me
Like a dog
Playing in the park
Fetching the ball religiously
Every time it’s is thrown away

Freedom is a secret
We all have to deserve it

I have a secret place
Called freedom
I live there
Don’t bother to search it
The map is etched
On the walls of my retina

You want my secret
Look straight into my eyes
Scratch my retina

You in You, I in I

You and I
A pair
Of migratory birds from the island
Called freedom

Look what has become of us now!
Caught in our own mortal cages

You in You
I in I

How long we wait!
When shall we fly back to our island?
How long we stay!
Caught in our own mortal cages

You in You
I in I

Breakfast With My Schizophrenia

That voice is growing on me
Who is he calling to?
I had put sugar in my tea
Why does it taste salty?

Your face is too familiar
Have you come to steal my dreams?
But you can’t
Even if I tell you
They are hidden inside my secret locker
It only opens with one key
The key of my sleep
But you can’t make me sleep

Go away!
What do you want from me?

Give me your black sweater
I have to build a house
Of black strings
For my homeless friend
Who can’t stop talking any time
Follows me everywhere
No, you don’t know him
He hasn't met you yet
How can you meet him!
He is homeless!

Go away!
Why do you want to meet him?

My tea is getting cold
I must drink it fast
Before it gets dry
There is a message at the bottom
Look it is your eye
Close your eyes
They are too beautiful and sharp
They hurt me
They cut through me
I don’t want to bleed my thoughts out

Go away!
Why do you want to know me?

There is music in the sky
I am a song sung in whispers
Decipher me if you can
"I want to die!
You want to tie!
They want to buy!
I live under sky!
Why would I cry!"

Go away!
Why do you want to understand me?

You really want to know me?
Go home and look into the mirror
Watch your eyes closely
Read the message if you can
Then drink my tea
I mixed my thoughts in it
Drink it fast
Before it gets dry
The message is always gone
A little before than forever
But why is your face too familiar?
Have you come to steal my thoughts?
Steal if you can
I won’t blame you for the crime
Promise me but one thing
Don’t force me
To sleep
Or to drink your tea
I want to go away
I want to know me

Go away!
Why don’t you leave me alone?

Che' Naar

When I grew up
And I grew bigger than my mother’s lap
And too big for my father’s shoulders
In my lonely pursuits
I was adopted by an old Chinar tree
It took me in
Like its own child
I was raised by its long branches
Longer than my wishes
Fed by its countless leaves
More than the stars I could count
At night, under its elderly shade

Sometimes when I was sad
I would be there
And it will be a beautiful woman
All dressed up in autumn gold
Dancing like a stubborn child
Stripping all her clothes
One after another
Day after day

At times when I was cold
It will be dressed like an Eskimo
In his long furry snowy coat
And I will warm it with my naked palms

My secret dreams were no more
A secret
When its big leafy hand
Assured me with love and faith

I still remember the day
How it shivered with pain
When I meant to leave
In my search of dreams
I wove on its kind branches

And then when I grew older
Away from its vigil motherly gaze
Some dreams lost their meaning
Some matter more
Every now and then
I kept missing its wise company

But today I am shivering with deeper pain
Grave news reached me from home
My friend Chinar is no more
 It strangled itself with loneliness
And left me in a note
On a piece of its bark
“I am here, forever”
I keep reading it again and again
With tears falling like winter dewdrops
As if to reaffirm my belief in its last note
Beyond the reality of the sad truth

Its unmarked grave is marked
With few fading circles now
Like the orbiting planets
Of our universe
Marking each year we lived together

A ring of my faith
Is cast every morning now
When I circle it over and over again
To find my last raiment
Of hope
I wait in circles
For it to take me in again
Once more
Once more
Forever

My Migraine

Like my migraine
Your love aches me
To the center of my being
And then I hide
In the dark forest of your memories
Running away from every beam of your presence
That follows me like a firefly in my head
I put on my dark black glasses of my dreams
Believing your brightness won’t reach me
But you prick into my dreams too
And then
Like my migraine
Your love keeps aching me
Till the painful center of your memories
Becomes the center of my universe
