Silent Pout

Silence is the desert of language
I met you there
I loved you there

Three seasons of silences lay between us now
But I remember
That single moment
When you shaped your lips like a pout
Almost to say something
As I was leaving
But stopped
Just before it shaped a word

Since then
I’m searching in vain
Like an obsessive linguist
Every language
For that word

Though at times
I wonder
Was there a word at all?

Misplaced Friendship

I felt like a drunken atheist
Standing in front of a mosque
A kite without a string
Lost, forgotten and hanged
From an electricity wire
Of an empty house
I felt like a poem
Misprinted all over the book

It wasn’t her fault
I fooled myself into it
I had an illusion of trust upon her

But love cannot be feigned by untrue heart
Friendship cannot be manufactured by words

Yet fooled by an untrue heart
Charmed by contrived words
I pledged myself to her friendship
And misplaced a part of my soul forever…

Precautionary Warning

Before you read my poems
Be warned:

Words are little girls
Who can’t keep secrets

From each other

S = K log W

It’s going to be messier
More messier than it is now
I am going to be more random
You are going to be more chaotic
My hugs are going to be more erratic
They might happen any time
Or not at all
Your kisses are to be increasingly arbitrary
You might do it right now
Or I might have to wait many days

It’s not an opinion
It’s not my intuitive wits
It’s pure science, my love
This is what world is headed to
This is what they call entropy

International Men's Day

They dig deeper into my being
Like they probe deserts for oil
In search of my manhood reservoirs
They make surveys inside my mind
Reading me hard under their scanner eyes

I am a man
The word sounds like a disease now
Too much of me is revealed
Too little left to fathom or contemplate upon

I am a man
Almost like a shadow
Ripped off its soul

There are only symptoms left now
Severely acute terrible symptoms
A rough face with no beard
A tight chest with no hair
A bunch of taut muscles
And to top it all
Severely underconfident complexed penis

I am a man
Delusional
Drunk
With ostentatious might of the youth

I am intelligent enough to be stupid
And stupid enough to be foolish

To be a man is so frightening
I escape
To be a soldier, a saint
Or the God
(being an angel is too harsh on a man)

On the shores of gentle womanhood
I keep wondering
What makes me man for myself?

Confessions

"I wanted to talk to you
But I was expecting you would call"

Too many of the promises
I broke with myself
Perhaps more with you
Those days we used to call it ego
Now we call it immaturity
Tomorrow we might call it fate
Truth is we couldn’t get together again
That is very sad
I don’t regret it now
But it’s sad

I don’t console myself
With memories of good times
We had together
I just remember your face
It still makes me angry
So angry that I break something around me
That’s the closest though
I get to my feelings
In these days of eternal numbness

On Sundays and almost every other day
I sit on our green couch
Watching random stuff on television
Which by the way
Has become horrifyingly boring
Had you been here
I am sure the stuff they show now
Would kill you
But I still watch it
Quite late in the night
Because that is the only time
When I still feel your warmth besides me
The blanket still smells of your perfume
Ok! Alright, it doesn’t
I put that on it every other night
It feels nice to smell of you
Than myself

Our last picture
Is the picture on my desktop
I don’t know why I can’t change it
Every time I try
I can’t find anything better
Or meaningful

Pigeons still crap outside the window sill
I clean it every day
I mean once in a week
Almost every Sunday
It looks good
I think they miss you though
They don’t fly away even when I shoo them
They have become as stubborn as you

What was the name of that novel
You read several times?
I can’t find it in the study
I remember it had black cover
Which matched your hairs and eyes
But I can’t remember the title
I miss its character
She resembled you
If not your beauty
At least in your wit and sarcasm

I haven’t written much since
My ideas are frozen
In some other time
Some other book
Some other story
As of now
Let me just sleep around your pillow
Under your blue blanket
And think of you...

Strange Touch

Everything about me has changed now
The color of my tongue
The taste of my eyes
The texture of my voice
The flavor of my tears
Everything…
Changed…

You touched me in many strange ways
