Short Biography Of A Poet

She loved everyone
Lived alone...

Secret (Off the mirror)

She looks at the mirror
Longer than usual
And then she smiles...

It's a secret
But off the mirror
Not in it

Anger

She whispers
I hate you
While kissing my picture
Over and over again
At the end of each whisper

Fait Accompli

I watched you
From the unbearable corners of my life
Unskilled
Inexperienced
I loved you
Like a stupid teenager
Blinded by the idea of perfect future

I wrapped you in my arms
Every night
Like you were the last soul
I would see before my imminent death

I carved your name on everything
Believing foolishly
Whatever I possess is all yours

I painted your smile everywhere
On every piece of paper I had

I shaved, combed, dressed myself
Looking at you in the mirror

Everything I did
Everything I chose
Was perfect to the extent of your subtle approval

But you couldn't deliver yourself to me
You weren't even yours to give
They took you from me
They sent you away like a bad omen
And left me alone
Like an old ruined mosque
Where no one calls the azaan
And none offers any prayer

I am that dreadful nightmare
No one wants to dream now
The forgotten melody to unsung songs
I am just the opposite of what is

Envy

She smiled at herself in the mirror
I saw both of them smiling

Geopolitics of Love

Moon is your half eyelid
The other half opens inside me
A dream is conceived each moment
Footprints of the nights
I spent with you
Are shamelessly pasted on every wall
People speak about us
Like a scandalous breaking news

The distance between you and me
Has become an illegal settlement
I wait for you
Like a child waits for his mother
In Gaza
Looking out of the only window
Left of the house

You ghettoed me in your eyes
As if I don't belong anywhere
The ration of my dreams is limited now
Come forward
Defy this ceasefire of silence
Bomb me with your malicious words
Declare me a terrorist in your love
So I would dream life again
Of pain, suffering and separation
But not of death
Till you pronounce your last word
Upon me

Jealousy

She paints her lips red
Curls them against each other
And kisses her own image in the mirror
