Whirling smoke

I burn like a cigarette
Between your smoky lips
I die
Between your deft fingers
I enter your soul
And take your shape
Inside you
I become you
And then I come out
I become the air you breathe
I color everything grey
I dance around you
In perfect circles
Like one self-defying Sufi
Rising high in your love

Nothing remains same after
I change everything
Your taste
Your smell
Your eyes
Your words
Your thoughts

Dripping bit by bit
From the tip of your cigarette
I lay dead on the ashtray of time
I don’t regret
My whole life is spent
