Kashmir: The garden of hope

Tread carefully
This is the country of flowers and tulips

You might believe that all the gardeners are gone
That the last one has been killed too

But the heart of the rose is not dead yet
The hope of the tulips is still alive

In Kashmir
Every flower is a revolt
Every color is a slogan
Even the dead tulips are an outbreak

Be careful
There will be a day when
Every garden will rise in revolt
And you will find no ground to hide
Sufis of freedom will ride the horses of fragrance
Love will triumph over hatred
Truth will dance with madness
Reason will sing with passion
And then that day
That blessed day
We all will be free, at last!
We all will be free, at last!

  1. All ye flowers that blossom in that moaning Vale
    I hear thine muffled sobs
    I hear thine choked tears
And my solitary heart, that bleeds in pain
At your and my own suffering
    Stops for but a moment
And I'm reminded, in soul we are all ONE

We hear what others choose to drown in their modern day intoxications
My heart torn asunder, thousands of times- all over again
For you my brother,my sister, my children, my parents
for you silenced in wee hours of dawn
Who never wake up to welcome the new morn...

Someday ...we shall all be free
    It is not just you
But an entire race of humans- all of humanity
That chokes under its own burden, its cruelty
    Its selective memory
ANd someday some of us...shall choose to NOT FORGET
I...the morning air, in my morning wisdom remind thee
