My country

I am the citizen of your eyes
You are the country I belong to

I work in the deep mines of your dreams
Digging day and night
For the diamonds of your wishes
I earn wages off your tongue
A word a day

But then there are days and nights
You leave me starving forever

On the gates of your kindness
I wait for my wages
I wait for the dime of your word
