Carcass of Memories

The dragons of sleep are dead
I feed
On the carcass of memories

Your absence
Bursts inside me
Like an explosive remnant
Of a bygone war

I heal
My abysmal wounds
With eternal warmth
Of your memories
Thinking each
One by one
Carefully
Like prescribed doses of medicine

I find dreams on my pillow
Night
Every night
Like shards of broken bangles
I collect them
In obscure cauldrons
Of my eyes

I dream you
In broken realms
Of distant time
Like the coming of your letters
The reading of them long

Your memories are all I have
I scavenge them
From the dust of days
From the dampness of nights
Every time
All the time
