It
was a small bench
Not
too long
Not
longer than her whispers
At
the corner of a common park
Guarded
on all sides
By
tall arrogant buildings
As
if they feared
It
would run away
Evening
sunlight
Tanned
her face golden
While
the breeze from the north
Kept
tossing her hair
Across
her voluptuous mouth
I
would brush the hair back from her face
To
see her blushing every time
The
crimson of her cheeks
Ah!
The crimson of her cheeks
Would
warm my heart
And
the stammering smile
Faltering
on the edges of her lips
Had
unimaginable magical qualities
She
would sit at the edge of the bench
Crossing
her legs one upon other
Swinging
one foot to and fro
Like
an oscillating pendulum
As
if marking each moment that passes by
I
would ask her about her day
And
she would whisper in my ear
“Better than yesterday, Love!
Better than yesterday!”
She
would look at the blushing sunset
With
child’s awe
Tears
rolling down her golden face
As
if something is also setting inside her
And
then she turns towards me to ask
“What if everything comes to an end?
What if there will be no one to
love?”
I
wrap her in my arms
Look
into her moist eyes
And
whisper with a kiss
“What if love has no end!”
“My love!”
“No end at all”
